” If you figure a way to live without serving a master, any master, then let the rest of us know, will you? For you’d be the first person in the history of the world.”

“The Master” DIR. Paul Thomas Anderson

An absolutely maginificent portrait of Lancaster Dodd and the life of an incredibly troubled man. Filmed expertly and with a soft hand the film is a fantastic journey through the lives of a very particular set of characters. It’s captivating shot build up and writing make for one of the best films made in a long time and one of the best in Anderson’s already stellar filmography. If you have yet to see the 2 1/2 hour epic journey into madness and the answer to what life ultimately means and the quest for what one can get out of it, then I recommend that you go sit down and enjoy. There are parts where it drags and you will want to stop watching, as there seems to be no way that this could end well, but continue and you will be rewarded with one of the most beautiful films to grace any screen.
