” Then I saw it, I saw a mom who would die for her son, a man who would kill for his wife, a boy, angry & alone, laid out in front of him the bad path. I saw it & the path was a circle, round & round. So I changed it.”

REVIEW:

Rian Johnson is a very accomplished director, and this may be his best work yet, I love the film ‘Brick’ but it’s not necessarily popcorn fuel. With this Johnson tackles the ever changing medium of popcorn cinema, and pushes it to its limits of emotion. How much emotion can you get through a science fiction film and still have people go see it? The answer in Johnson’s film is quite a lot. The film is entertaining and completely original, the idea of time travel is not set to such extreme boundaries and is not explained, probably one of the wiser choices as explaining time travel in films takes some of the magic away. So the fact that he leaves it unexplained and gives it a practical, raw use is a very intelligent move.

The movie’s story is compelling and has enough to keep audiences interested, and an ending line from JGL to rip your heart out. The film is definitely going to be one of the best in the year of 2012 and I would expect to see it being recognized for makeup, cinematography, and script in the upcoming award season.
